Gynburra Spear Fishing
Here’s my soundtrack for a VR fishing game featured at the Gynburra indigenous cultural festival over on the Yorke Peninsula, which is Narungga country.
The festival included a pop-up VR booth presented by Classy Bogan Studios and I was honoured to be commissioned to provide some ambient music.
Rather than a linear mix, I wanted to offer the game devs a “palette” of subtle sonic watercolours that they could dial in to taste!
VR Skydiving
This piece accompanies an essentially linear VR experience but it also needed to respond dynamically to game events such as player stunt combos, timing of the freefall/parachute experience, and different themes that depend on the player’s landing location – Village or Jungle!
Stage Fright
Developing the music system for this innovative wave defense game was a wonderful challenge. An entry for Ludum Dare 47, the soundtrack was central to the game mechanic and required a close collaboration with the team.
Global Game Jam 2019
In January 2019 I was fortunate to attend the local chapter of the annual Global Game Jam event. In addition to learning a great deal about collaborating within indie game project teams, I was pleased to be able to contribute music to two games requiring quite different musical moods: HearthWatch and Home Inspectre.
One of the most inspiring aspects of this event for the game music composer is meeting the challenge of composing, producing and delivering final masters within a 48 hour period.

Frog's Princess
“Christian’s music is beautiful and emotional and exactly matches the characters. Christian seemed to immediately understand the sensitive princess, the beautiful but evil Lady Lorelei, the impulsive heroic prince and the comical frog. His spooky woods are a subtle warning for the player. His battle music is essential for setting the pace in those scenes.
Christian made our app beautiful and moving and our project is much richer after his contribution.”
That Face
“Together with lighting designer Ben Flett, and sound designer and composer Christian Paterson, [director Corey] McMahon heightened the tension”
“Christian Paterson’s score punctuates the emotional intensity with a sobering rhythm”
The Under Room
“Thriller a taut and terrific ride”
Osama the Hero
“Christian Paterson’s sound design is the sixth character in the play”
